OUR STORY
Introducing Allyson Welch Design
THE STUDIO:
With a passion and curiosity for all things interior design and architecture, combined with a desire to create beautiful, comfortable, and meaningful homes, Allyson Welch Design was born. We believe that good design can enhance the human experience and enrich our everyday lives. Our interiors are eclectic and warm - layered with color, pattern, materiality, and unique furnishings.
At the heart of our studio is a commitment to designing with personality, purpose, and longevity. We strive to create authentic & unique interiors that are tailored to our clients’ needs while weaving together their personality and story into each space. By carefully considering the history of a home along with its surrounding environment, we create connectivity between people and place. This results in projects that are meaningful and one of a kind, as opposed to trend led.
With over a decade of experience in design and construction, we bring a wealth of knowledge to every step of a project - from schematic design to project management and construction administration. We have experience working with architects, engineers, landlords, contractors, and millworkers. Each project we are involved in is a creative collaboration between our client and consultants.
ABOUT ALLYSON:
It was whilst growing up in a historical Upstate New York town, and in a family run business of shop keepers, that my first love of design began. Working alongside my parents and grandparents in their gift shop, I learned the importance of getting to know customers and helping them find the perfect one-of-a-kind home furnishings and gifts to add in their homes. The intention was that these pieces would become family heirlooms for future generations. This belief translates to the way in which I design, creating personalized and thoughtfully layered interiors that are meant to be lived in and provide a sense of ease and enjoyment for years to come.
After graduating from Syracuse University, with a BFA in Environmental and Interior Design, and a short summer stint biking across the country for the affordable housing initiative (yay bike & build!), I went on to work in NYC designing high-end interiors for ten years. It was while working in NYC that I deeply broadened my design knowledge and fine-tuned my skillset. Although I have spent most of my career working on multi-faceted commercial projects, my true passion has always lied in residential interiors. My upstate roots compelled me to move to the Hudson Valley in 2022 and shortly after I was ready to launch my own firm with the solid foundation I had built working within the industry.
I am constantly inspired by the ordinary and natural beauty of my surroundings. I find that beauty often lies within the imperfection. When not working, you can find me traveling, outside in nature, antiquing + shopping locally, and spending time with my friends & family.
I am excited for this next adventure and look forward to what is to come! Thanks for following along!
